Reasons why the physical properties of liquids affect the spray efficiency of trigger sprayers

2024.11.05

For the spray efficiency and uniformity of trigger sprayers, the physical properties of liquids in liquid fluidity play a vital role. These physical properties not only determine the behavior pattern of the liquid during the spray process, but also directly affect the particle size distribution, spray velocity, coverage and final spray effect of the spray.
Liquid viscosity
The viscosity of a liquid is a physical quantity that measures its internal flow resistance. High-viscosity liquids require greater pressure to overcome their internal resistance during the spray process, thereby achieving effective fragmentation and atomization. However, excessive viscosity may cause nozzle blockage or uneven spraying, reducing spray efficiency. On the contrary, low-viscosity liquids are more easily broken into fine droplets, but may also be difficult to accurately control the spray direction due to excessive fluidity. Therefore, when designing a trigger sprayer, it is necessary to select a suitable pump structure, nozzle aperture and spray pressure according to the viscosity of the liquid to ensure the uniformity and efficiency of the spray.
Density
Although the density of the liquid does not directly affect the fragmentation process of the spray, it will affect the range and penetration of the spray. Liquids with higher density have greater inertia during the spraying process, which can maintain a longer range and stronger penetration, but may also cause uneven spraying or produce overly large droplets. On the contrary, liquids with lower density have a shorter range, but are more likely to form fine sprays, which are conducive to uniform coverage of the target area. Therefore, when selecting a trigger sprayer and setting spray parameters, it is necessary to consider the density characteristics of the liquid to ensure that the spray effect meets actual needs.
